Atlantic is owned by team of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians who share a passion for success. We have created an amazing team obsessed with Quality, Community and Fun. 2018

Founded from a single vision.

Atlantic Cultivation was incorporated on January 29th, with Chris C. as the company's sole founding member of staff — the first seed planted in what would become Newfoundland's leading cannabis company.

2019

Building the foundation.

Alex joined as CEO and employee #2, the government agreement was signed, and construction planning on our purpose-built production facility was completed. Ground broke in September — things were officially underway.

2020

Opening our doors.

Elizabeth Jones joined as QAP, and we signed a Spiritleaf franchise agreement to launch our first retail locations — Topsail Road in May, Grand Falls-Windsor in November, and Goulds shortly after. The office moved into the new facility as the team continued to take shape.

2021

A landmark year.

We hit 50 employees, opened stores in Gander, Galway, and Corner Brook, and received our cultivation license in May. We welcomed our first clones, harvested our first-ever crop in October, launched Crooked Dory, and rebranded our retail network as Atlantic Cannabis on November 1st.

2022

Licensed, harvested, and growing.

With 120 people on the team, we received our sales license in January — the same month we harvested our first Naked Mummer crop, Cactus Breath. New stores opened on Water Street and Torbay Road, and the Naked Mummer brand officially launched.

2024

Deepening our roots.

The team grew to 140 people as we continued expanding our retail presence and strengthening the Atlantic Cannabis network across Newfoundland.

2025

Reaching new communities.

Now 170 strong, we opened new Atlantic Cannabis locations in Bay Roberts in February and Placentia in March — bringing craft quality cannabis to even more communities across the province.

Our team.

Chris Crosbie
Chief Operating Officer

Chris brings a well-travelled background to the team — from hands-on experience in the medical cannabis industry in the United States to managing large-scale commercial and industrial properties in the Oil and Gas sector. That range of experience gives him a grounded, real-world perspective that translates well in a fast-moving industry like cannabis. Oh, and if you ever need someone to spar with: Chris is an accomplished martial artist who's competed on the international stage.

Alex Twells
Chief Executive Officer

Alex has a curious mind and a belief that companies are successful because they have solid strategy, leadership and a great team. For a quarter of a century he has helped companies across North America and Europe achieve success. Outside work, Alex is a leader with Rotary International, recently completing a term as District Governor for Atlantic Canada. Alex spends every morning on the trails with his beloved German Shorthaired Pointer called Blueberry.

Tom Martinson
VP of Commercial Operations

Tom keeps the commercial engine running smoothly at Atlantic Cultivation. Overseeing the moving parts that connect cultivation, sales, and retail, he's equal parts strategist and problem-solver — someone who knows that great cannabis deserves great execution behind the scenes. Tom brings a steady hand and a big-picture mindset to everything from supply chain to team performance.

Elizabeth Jones
Quality Assurance Manager

Elizabeth brings a uniquely well-travelled career to Atlantic Cultivation — spanning environmental fieldwork in Labrador, regulatory compliance in the aquaculture industry, and pharmaceutical health and safety in Canada's early medical cannabis sector. She joined Atlantic Cultivation in 2020 as QAP, bringing deep fluency in Health Canada compliance, hands-on experience from Highland Grow and BeeHighve Cannabis, and a genuine passion for the plant and the people it serves.

Liam English
National Sales Manager

Liam is the driving force behind Atlantic Cultivation's sales growth across Canada. With a sharp instinct for building relationships and a genuine passion for craft cannabis, he works closely with retailers and partners to bring Atlantic Cultivation's brands to new markets. Liam is the kind of person who gets energized by a challenge — and even more so by closing a deal that's a win for everyone at the table.

Katie Ryan
Customer Service Representative

Katie is often the first voice people hear when they reach out to Atlantic Cultivation, and she makes that count. Warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in a great experience, she helps customers, retailers, and partners get exactly what they need. Katie's the kind of teammate who makes every interaction feel easy — and leaves people feeling good about who they're doing business with.

Simon Lono
Demand Planner & Retail Strategist

Simon sits at the intersection of data and shelf strategy, making sure the right products are in the right places at the right time. He digs into demand trends and retail insights to help Atlantic Cultivation's brands stay competitive and visible across the market. Simon's work might happen behind the scenes, but its impact shows up every time a product hits a shelf and moves.
